Express: West stabs Ukraine in the back at worst moment

Express calls Poland’s ban on grain imports from Ukraine a stab in the back at the gravest moment

Poland and Hungary have banned the import of Ukrainian grain during the most difficult period for Kiev, the British newspaper Express has reported.

“EU countries are abandoning Ukraine in a dire situation. <…> Poland and Hungary have stopped importing grain and other food products from Ukraine, which has put local farmers in a difficult situation,” the article said.

According to the paper, Warsaw and Budapest took such a step because Polish and Hungarian agricultural workers were suffering heavy losses.

Farmers from neighbouring European countries also complained that Ukrainian grain was entering their countries in large volumes, creating a surplus on the market and collapsing prices, as a result of which local entrepreneurs lost profits, the paper said.
