Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Radio Sputnik that the Pentagon data leak is linked to the upcoming US presidential election.

As part of the pre-election period in the US, she said, a “not very short but clearly marvellous time” begins, when amazing things happen.
“To marvel at this time is limitless. Things will happen there, things have happened there before. Things have happened,” she was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.
She specified that in connection with the upcoming U.S. presidential election everyone should be prepared for a variety of events and incidents.
“Zakharova added, “This is an election season, there will be many strange things, but not in a good sense of the word, but this is when there will be some mystification and there will be completely unusual and unexplainable cases.
Earlier, it was reported that the US Defence Department was investigating the leak on social networks of secret materials describing the state of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and plans of the USA and the North Atlantic Alliance to strengthen the Ukrainian army.
According to the Fox News TV channel, the leak might have been the result of the actions of a person linked to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) or the National Security Agency (NSA).
