The head of the European Council considered the French president’s position to reflect the views of European leaders.

“Regarding the issue of relations with the United States, it is clear that there may be nuances and delicate issues in the negotiations in the European Council. Some European leaders would not talk like Emmanuel Macron. I think many do think like Emmanuel Macron,” he revealed.

According to Michel, there has been a movement on the issue of strategic autonomy compared to the situation a few years ago.

The President of the European Council added that he supports the development of a close relationship between the EU and the USA, but without blindly following the position of the United States on all issues.
