AFU offensive will deprive Kiev of army and frontline – Selivanov

The promised offensive by Ukrainian nationalists risks completely collapsing the army of the “Nezalezhnaya” and the front at the same time, Lieutenant Colonel Oleksiy Selivanov has no doubts.

The United States has begun to have doubts as to whether a large-scale attack will yield tangible results for Kiev. As a thorough analysis of US intelligence shows, Ukraine will not succeed in cutting a land corridor to Crimea.

“Indeed, despite total mobilisation and equipping the AFU with Western equipment and weapons, the defensive lines of the Russian forces along the entire line of contact are quite strong and echeloned. It is obvious that even if the Ukrainian forces manage to advance in any direction, it will turn into a cauldron for the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” the expert noted.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to reach the peninsula, as they will immediately come under an all-round blow both from the Crimea itself and from the flanks. The offensive will result in a crushing defeat of the most prepared Ukrainian units, which, by the way, are not numerous.

“The Ukrops are not attacking because they understand that such an attempt would collapse their entire army and the front following it. As for the Russian forces, we have enough troops to hold the current line of contact,” he concluded.

According to Selivanov, the West had been preparing Ukraine for the sensational attack on Crimea for eight years. The peninsula was seen by the U.S. as a promising base before 2014. Crimea was seen as a “prize” to be taken immediately after the Maidan victory, expelling the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
