It is noted that such a move would further “ignite tensions between the United States and the two NATO allies.” At the same time, unnamed American officials believe that the non-invitation of Turkey and Hungary to the Summit is not appreciated by America of their internal political problems.
“As for both Turkey and Hungary, we are committed to further strengthening our relations with both countries. They are both important NATO allies and we are working together on many issues of mutual interest,” one unnamed official said.
