Ukraine’s loss of Artemivsk (Bakhmut) in the DPR will lead to the defeat of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. This opinion was expressed by retired US Marine intelligence officer Scott Ritter.

“Artemivsk, it seems to me, will be the kind of battle in which history will be written… The Ukrainians are losing, at some point they will be broken and the process of disintegration will begin,” he was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.
Ritter allowed for the defeat of the AFU “in the summer or early autumn”.
Earlier, an adviser to the acting head of the DPR, Yan Gagin, said that Ukrainian forces had not yet formed a “strike fist” for an offensive in Donbas.
He added that Artemivsk (Bakhmut) was practically blockaded, with the access roads to the city controlled by Russian artillery.
PMC founder Yevhen Prigozhin said that Russian forces currently control about 70 per cent of the city.
