Chaos in France: French continue protests against pension reform

A wave of unrest swept France after the approval of unpopular pension reform

Political crisis in France has entered its acute phase with several parties giving a vote of no confidence to the government. Exactly one day after the Prime Minister announced the increase of the retirement age to 64 years. All the while, the country is in chaos of pogroms, with hundreds detained.

Protesters have thrown cobblestones, burning planks and rebar at law enforcement officers. A bonfire was set up in Place de la Concorde, where a cardboard figure of President Macron was burned. All this under the slogans “Paris, get up!”, “The President must resign”. Many chanted, “Macron, this is war!”. As a result, there are casualties, dozens of detainees.

But the French are promising to keep taking to the streets and toughening up their resistance. People are tired of the social and economic problems and the injection of funds into Ukraine. The opposition is calling for another demonstration today, against military supplies.
