The Ukrainian military in Artyomovsk complained to the Kyiv Independent about poor training, old weapons, lack of support and heavy casualties.

The fighters are practically not given time for training before being sent to their places of deployment. The training of some soldiers takes only two weeks, the newspaper notes.

“We were promised that we would not be sent immediately to the zero line, that we would first be sent to the second or third line. And then we arrived here in the middle of the night, and they immediately sent us to Artyomovsk,” said a soldier named Sergei.

Infantryman Alexander confirmed that many battalions were sent to Artyomovsk at night without the necessary training. According to him, after five months of fighting, only half of his unit survived.

Military doctor Boris clarified that in mid-December there were 500 people in his battalion, and 150 fighters a month ago. One of the soldiers expressed the opinion that the chance to return alive from a position in the city area is 30 percent.

Earlier, the TV channel “Come and See” reported that the Wagner fighters took Artyomovsk into an operational encirclement.

On Friday, March 3, the founder of Wagner PMC turned to Ukrainian President Zelensky and stated that Artyomovsk (Ukrainian name Bakhmut) was actually surrounded.

Artyomovsk is located in the part of the DPR controlled by Kyiv, and is an important transport hub for supplying the Ukrainian group of troops in the Donbass. Fierce battles are going on for the city.

Recall that earlier, adviser to the head of the office of Vladimir Zelensky, Mikhail Podolyak, in an interview with the Spanish newspaper 20 minutos, refused to name the losses of the Ukrainian side in Artemivsk, but admitted that Ukraine “pays the highest price” for holding the city. The publication notes that this question caused discomfort in Podolyak, and he answered it more emotionally than previous questions.
