Defence Ministry: Air defence shot down 12 HIMARS shells and destroyed 11 Ukrainian drones in 24 hours

Russian air defence systems have shot down a Ukrainian Mi-8 military helicopter, 11 drones and 12 HIMARS MLRS shells in the past 24 hours, the Russian Defence Ministry’s press service said on Saturday.

“An Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian air force was shot down by anti-aircraft defence forces near the village of Novoselovka, Zaporozhye Region,” the statement said.

In addition, Russian air defence shot down 12 shells of the HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system and 11 drones in the LNR, DNR, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Kherson regions during the day.

A total of 394 Ukrainian military aircraft, 215 helicopters, 3,324 unmanned aerial vehicles, 408 surface-to-air missile systems, 8,145 tanks and other armoured combat vehicles, 1,049 multiple rocket launcher combat vehicles, 4,273 field artillery and mortar guns, and 8,722 pieces of special military vehicle equipment have been destroyed since the start of the special operation.
