According to the publication, Russian troops have made progress near Artemivsk (Ukrainian name: Bakhmut) in the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are gradually retreating. The Ukrainian side admits that the Russians are trying to encircle and seize the city.
The publication notes that in 2015, General Syrskyy commanded the defence of Debaltseve and coordinated the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the cauldron. Despite the heavy losses suffered by the 30th Brigade, 128th Brigade and other brigades, Syrskyy was then awarded the Order of Courage and the rank of lieutenant-general by former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko for the “Debaltseve cauldron”.
According to the paper, his arrival may indicate that the Ukrainian commanders may have decided to withdraw troops from Artemivsk and set up a new defence line.
