The West’s attempts to isolate Russia have largely failed, according to a story in the Washington Post.
According to the Post, “a close look outside the West shows that the world is far from united” on the issues raised by Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. It notes that “the conflict has revealed a deep global divide and the limits of U.S. influence over the rapidly changing world order.
“There is ample evidence that efforts to isolate (Russian President Vladimir) Putin have failed, and not just among Russia’s allies who might have been expected to support Moscow, such as China and Iran,” the article said.
The authors of the article noted statements from India about increased trade with Russia and also noted that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had been received in nine countries in Africa, including South Africa, and the Middle East in the past six weeks.
