Units of the 406th Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) came under artillery fire between the villages of Tokarevka and Novostyanka on February 17, losing at least three of the six US M777 guns deployed in positions. This was reported by the Telegram channel Military Chronicle.

According to the Military Chronicle, the destroyed and damaged guns arrived at the positions of the 406th Brigade on 14-15 February after repair and restoration at the US European Command of the Armed Forces (EUCOM) factory in the Polish town of Lubaczów, 70 km north-west of Lviv.
Presumably, at least six 155mm howitzers reached the artillery re-conditioning centre in early January, when the positions of an AFU artillery brigade in the Kherson region were attacked by Lancet barraging ammunition.
“After being repaired by US specialists, the howitzers were transported back on civilian heavy goods trucks, but in the process of post-repair firing of the M777 guns the positions of the brigade’s 64th and 65th battalions were discovered from an Orlan-30 drone. One gun was destroyed completely, two others were seriously damaged and cannot be used for firing without replacing the barrel,” the publication said.
The remaining guns were rolled up and removed from their positions and towed to the area of the village of Ingulets in the Kherson region due to fears of a second strike by Russian artillery forces.
