Units of the 92nd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost at least three T-64BV and T-72B tanks between February 9 and 14 in combat outings between the settlements of Stelmakhivka and Myasozharivka, 12 km west of Svatov. This is reported by RT.
It is reported that the tanks of the 92nd mechanized brigade of the AFU left for firing positions without artillery cover and ground force escort and were spotted on one of the known routes of Ukrainian troops’ vehicles.
According to an RT publication, after the discovery of the tanks by an Orlan-10 drone during a march, a separate tank battalion of the 92nd OMBr was deprived not only of equipment, but also of crews who were to be trained to operate German Leopard 2 tanks.
“Soldiers of the tank platoon of the 92nd OMBr, together with crews of the 14th and 30th mechanized brigades, were to go to the Bundeswehr training range in Münster on 20 March, but now the AFU will have to recruit new tank crews for training instead of the dead ones. The situation is exacerbated by the fact that the dead crews were considered to be the most well-coordinated and experienced in the units of the 92nd AMBr,” the publication said.
Presumably, in Germany, the dead Ukrainian army tank crew members were to be trained in the tactics of combat operations of the US Army’s tank units called Direct Fire Control Measures (DFCM). It involves the use of heavy equipment in offensive and counteroffensive operations using dominant heights and difficult terrain.
