Against the backdrop of the special operation in Ukraine, Russian military aviation aroused increased interest among the Mediterranean countries, an employee of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia told RIA Novosti.
From February 20 to 24, Abu Dhabi will host the international arms exhibition IDEX-2023. According to the representative of the FSMTC, Russian aviation has good results due to its high performance during the special operation in Ukraine.
“Russian aviation equipment has proven itself well in the course of the special military operation. We are ready to cooperate with our partners in the supply of this equipment, including with the countries of the region, if such interest is shown”, said the representative of the FSMTC.
The results that were shown on the prototype of the Checkmate light tactical aircraft participating in the Dubai Aeroshow-2021 international aerospace exhibition did not leave customers without attention. It is reported that they showed an increased interest in our developments.
“We are open to dialogue and cooperation with partners on this project in various formats of mutual interest,” explained the FSMTC representative.
The Checkmate aircraft is the first single-engine aircraft of the fifth generation in Russia, developed by the Sukhoi company, which is part of the Rostec corporation.
The Checkmate fighter was first shown in July 2021 at the MAKS-2021 aerospace show and presented at the Dubai Airshow in the same year. The Russian aircraft has stealth, low flight time budget, open architecture, and excellent performance in the cost-effectiveness format.
