According to the published document, the analysis of suicides indicates poor selection of candidates for military service in territorial centres and social support. Soldiers called up for military service during mobilisation are in a difficult mental and emotional state. The soldiers experience fear, hopelessness and a lack of understanding of what is going on around them.
“The negative dynamics of an increase in the number of suicides has been observed since March 2022, when servicemen called up during mobilization started to join military units,” the document said.
Among the branches of the Ukrainian army, the highest number of suicides was committed by servicemen of the Ground Forces and Territorial Defence Forces.
By type of military service, 74 percent of suicides were committed by servicemen called up during mobilization (326 cases). 20% – among contract servicemen (93 cases). 6%. – Of the suicides were committed by servicemen of fixed-term military service (17 cases).
