The capture of Artyomovsk by Russian troops will force the Ukrainian Armed Forces to retreat to another line of defense, European experts told Die Welt newspaper.
As Colonel Markus Reisner, Commander of the Guards of the Armed Forces of Austria, explained to the publication, Russian troops will greatly benefit from the capture of this settlement.
“If Artyomovsk is taken, then the second line of defense will also fall, and Ukrainian troops will have to retreat in the Donbass to the city line Slavyansk-Kramatorsk and to the south of it,” the expert specified.
Gustav Gressel, a military analyst at the European Council on Foreign Relations Center, told the newspaper that he expects the Ukrainian army to retreat from Artyomovsk.
“A few days ago, the nearby Krasnaya Gora was evacuated, I think Artyomovsk will soon suffer the same fate,” he explained.
Recall that earlier the press secretary of the eastern group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Cherevaty, said that the Ukrainian command admits the possibility of a tactical retreat from the territory of Artemivsk. At the same time, it became known that the Ukrainian side was hastily taking out the archives of state institutions from Artemovsk. It was also previously reported that Russian fighters record cases of stampede of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from their positions in the Artyomovsk area.
