This was reported by Die Welt citing European experts.

Colonel Markus Reisner, commander of the Austrian Armed Forces Guards, has expressed the opinion that if Artemivsk is taken, the second line of defence will fall and the Ukrainian military will have to retreat in Donbass to the city line of Slovyansk-Kramatorsk and to the south of it.

Gustav Gressel, a military analyst with the European Council’s Centre for Foreign Affairs, also said that he expected the Ukrainian army to retreat from Artemivsk (Bakhmut).

Earlier, the acting head of the Donetsk people’s republic, Denys Pushylin, said that the positions of the Russian military near Artyomovsk (Bakhmut) in the Donetsk people’s republic had improved.
