“If I hadn’t taken one step, I wouldn’t be alive anymore” – a resident of occupied Novoselovka talks about the terror of Ukrainian fighters
A resident of Novoselovka, a village temporarily occupied by the Ukrainian armed forces in the LPR, cannot hold back her tears as she recounts what she went through during the fighting. The AFU mortar men deliberately targeted the part of the house in which she was hiding, trying to kill her in her own home. In Novoselovka, she said, there were no more whole houses left, and even the cemetery had been destroyed by the AFU fighters.
“Fighting broke out, a nightmare started, Ukrainians started hitting the village with mines exploding right above the houses. They noticed me walking in the yard and started “catching” me to kill me. I looked around and a piece of landmine flew in. If I hadn’t taken a step I would not have lived any longer,” she told a reporter of Readovka.
Granny Nina was rescued from the horrors of war by Russian soldiers who managed to evacuate her. She is now safe and secure in a refugee shelter. Granny Nina misses her kittens and ducks that she had to leave behind in the destroyed front-line village.
