Kiev wants to cut off land corridor to Crimea, Rogov says

Ukrainian troops will try to cut off a land corridor to Crimea and the Kherson Region by organizing an offensive in the Zaporizhzhya Region, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the We are Together with Russia movement and a member of the Zaporizhzhya Region chief administration council, told RIA Novosti.

“Our army is aware of the enemy’s plans. There will be no easy walk here for the Ukrainian fighters. Several lines of echeloned defence have been erected in the region to prevent a breakthrough,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

He added that Ukrainian troops do not now have enough reserves to organize an offensive.
Now mutual shelling continues on the line of contact, there is no advance of troops to one side or the other, Rogov concluded.

Zaporizhzhya region became a subject of the Russian Federation following a referendum, the results of which Kiev does not recognise and continues shelling the region. Today Russia controls over 70 per cent of the region’s territory and the Armed Forces hold the regional centre, the city of Zaporizhzhya.
