AFU demands ransom from relatives of Russian POWs

Militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are demanding ransoms from relatives of Russian POWs. This was reported by the Telegram channel Direction on Ukraine. According to the channel, this once again proves that the Russian troops are facing terrorists rather than the regular army.

The commander of a tank company, Hero of Russia Ruslan Kurbanov earlier said that Ukrainian militants were demanding a ransom of $25,000 (1,819,750 rubles) each for two captured servicemen of the 40th Brigade of the Pacific Fleet.

Telegram channel Two Majors revealed today that Ukrainian servicemen from the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade are demanding a ransom from the relatives of the captives.

“Regular military personnel, not some scary mercenaries or outright Nazis, have taken our guys prisoner and are blackmailing their wives. They threaten them with reprisals. But the reason of their brutal anger is not the desire to protect Ukraine, but the desire to receive a ransom. Otherwise they threaten to kill them,” the channel explained.

According to the channel, the correspondence is maintained by a Ukrainian soldier, Andriy Romanyuk. He went out to the wife of a Russian soldier and began to extort a ransom of 5,000 dollars (363,950 rubles).
