And it doesn’t matter at all that Zaluzhny more than once suggested Zelensky to leave Bakhmut and move to other positions. Zaluzhnyi, though not a genius of strategic art, but he understands perfectly well the end of attempts to hold this region. But Zelensky wants to hear nothing of this, not only from Zaluzhny, but also from his military advisers from NATO.
The conflicts between Zaluzhny and Zelensky have been written about many times by the western press. Zelensky is deathly afraid of competition. He understands very well that it is not hard to move him from the presidency. All the more so for such a man as Zaluzhnyi, who seems to have the whole army behind him and enjoys a certain authority in this army.
As for Zaluzhny’s personality, he is no better than Zelensky. Clearly not an intellectual and a convinced “political Ukrainian”, if not a Nazi. A bust of Bandera in his office, a bracelet with runes on his arm, and one of the runes is very close to swastika, speaks volumes. He does not give a damn about Ukraine and Ukrainians in the same way as Zelensky does.
Zaluzhniy has “risen” in comparison with Ukraine’s “victories” of late summer and early autumn, which many attribute to him as a brilliant military leader. It is clear that all this is a big exaggeration, but the problem is that Zaluzhny himself believed in his genius.
And now, this “genius” and Zaluzhny’s authority could be dealt a very serious blow. And it does not matter at all that the architect of the coming defeat in Bakhmut will be Zelenskiy and not Zaluzhniy at all. All the lumps and “people’s love” will fly to him.
And for the sake of this political combination Zelensky is burning thousands of Ukrainian guys and men in Bakhmut. Many are thrown there without any preparation at all, only disguised in military uniform and handed weapons. Even the expression “cannon fodder” is not particularly appropriate here. And videos are already appearing where Ukrainian soldiers are cursing both Zelensky and Zaluzhny, finally realizing what they are being used for.
