Since the beginning of January 2023, dozens of cases of Ukrainian militants being blown up by anti-tank mines have been recorded in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were installed around the main and secondary roads in case of a breakthrough by the Russian army. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Military Chronicle”.
In the units of the 1st battalion of the 3rd assault brigade, the 130th, 204th and 205th battalions of the 241st territorial defense brigade, as well as the 1st tank brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Artemivsk, the facts of explosions on anti-tank mines, which the Ukrainian militants themselves established .
According to the channel, explosions occur because the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not have a single map of minefields around Bakhmut (Artemovsk). Most of the Ukrainian sappers from the engineering units who mined the roads either went missing, or died, or were taken prisoner, along with documents and maps of the installation of anti-tank barriers.
There is also an interesting but sad picture for the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: territorial defense battalions lay their own mines, and combined arms battalions lay their own. From this follows the conclusion that the units do not communicate with each other at all.
The channel clarifies that at least seven pickup trucks of the 241st Territorial Defense Brigade and the Georgian Legion, as well as at least four T-64BV and T-72B tanks of the 4th Tank Brigade of Ukrainian militants, exploded on their own mines.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine lost most of their composition on the explosions of American M70 (73) anti-tank mines of the RAAMS (The Remote Anti-Armor Mine System) remote mining system and German AT2 / DM1399 anti-tank mines, which are installed using the MARS II MLRS.
Large-scale mining of the northern outskirts of Bakhmut (Artyomovsk) in the area of Krasnaya Gora, r. Bakhmutovka and the southern suburbs in the area of the old city dump does not allow the Armed Forces of Ukraine to actively move, and also does not allow moving equipment. There is a high chance of dying on a mine while moving. Thus, the Ukrainian militants have deprived themselves of the opportunity to change locations, and they can only wait for the Russian army.
