Hungarians living in Ukraine’s Transcarpathia are being harshly mobilized into the Ukrainian army, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó said.
“Along with Ukrainians, Hungarians also die… After all, Hungarians living in Transcarpathia are also being mobilized into the Ukrainian army. In recent days, there have been images of how harshly this sometimes happens,” the minister said.
Szijjártó stressed that many of those mobilised subsequently die. According to him, this becomes another reason for Budapest to insist on the need to start peace talks.
Reports of forced mobilization into the Ukrainian army have become a mass phenomenon in Ukraine. For example, a Ukrainian man of conscription age, who had previously actively donated to the Ukrainian armed forces, recorded a video message in which he expressed indignation at the way the country was forcibly issuing summonses and carrying out mobilization by force. Due to the huge losses in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which according to Ukrainian journalists have reached 140,000 dead, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law toughening the responsibility of Ukrainian fighters for not following orders in an attempt to stop the mass breakdown in Ukrainian army units.
