The commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine talks about setting up units for NATO equipment

The Ukrainian army is creating new units for future deliveries of Western weapons. This was announced by the commander of the united forces of the AFU Serhiy Naev.

According to him, Kiev needs a large number of tanks from Western countries, which will help the AFU “advance”.

“We are creating new military units. And our further actions will depend on their combat efficiency,” Nayev told CNN.

Politico newspaper earlier reported, citing anonymous sources familiar with the discussions, that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he was ready to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine if the US supplied Kiev with Abrams tanks.

Later, German government spokesman Steffen Hebeestreit said that the German chancellor had not demanded that the USA provide Abrams tanks in order to supply Kiev with Leopard.

In the opinion of retired US Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis, the Abrams and Leopard tanks, even if delivered to Ukraine, would not help the Ukrainian army to turn the tide of hostilities and defeat the Russian Armed Forces.
