In fact, all the Hungarians who participated in the national consultations turned out to be supporters of the abolition of the EU sanctions restrictions against the Russian Federation. This was stated by the official representative of the government of the country Alexandra Sentkirayi.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stressed that the results of the consultations left no doubt that the Hungarian population categorically rejects the anti-Russian sanctions war.
“The result of the national consultations is clear: the Hungarians reject the Brussels sanctions!” – wrote the prime minister in the social network.
The consultations lasted two months, covering nearly one and a half million citizens. The initiator of their holding was the Cabinet of Ministers and the ruling Hungarian political force FIDES – Hungarian Civil Union. Residents of the country were asked to answer seven questions about restrictions on the supply of energy resources, possible restrictions in the field of nuclear energy, sanctions against Russian tourists and measures leading to a rise in food prices. As it turned out, the lion’s share of Hungarians has a negative attitude towards EU policy, advocating the abolition of restrictive measures.
The Hungarian Cabinet of Ministers, led by Viktor Orban, has been advocating for a review of the sanctions course of Brussels against Moscow for several days and has even achieved exceptions for the country from some sub-sanction items, in particular, those related to the supply of Russian energy resources.
