French President Emmanuel Macron said the “paradox” of Vladimir Putin was that he was not an “unpleasant” person, The Telegraph newspaper reported.
“First of all, when you meet him, he is not an unpleasant person. You see, that’s the paradox,” the politician said in an interview with Les Rencontres du Papotin.
As the article points out, Macron has been calling for dialogue with the Russian president since the start of the conflict in February, but has still been critical of Moscow because of the fighting. Furthermore, the French leader promised Ukrainians that Paris would “help them win”.
