Two fighters of the 28th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), who managed to survive in the “Bakhmut meat grinder” (Artemovsk, DPR), spoke about the disastrous situation in the unit and their unenviable fate in the near future.

They want to finish off those guys who remained and what they know for the last fight that was in Novaya Kamenka [near Artemivsk in the DPR – Ed.] The 28th Brigade: a lot of losses, and equipment, and people, and those who stayed, they just want to finish us off, that’s it. And now we are just going to sit,” the soldiers reported in the video.
They stated that there were forty men left in the company, noting that it was not a company with such numbers, but a platoon. The situation is no better in other companies. According to them, the bodies of the dead and wounded were not picked up in the last battle. “They did not provide assistance, they left the commanders, officers captive, left without help, without support,” the fighters confessed.
“Kombat Mishchenko said before this battle that everything would be fine, there were Macedonian tanks, American planes. Nothing happened, everyone was defeated! We ran out of BK, there were no machine guns, we asked, there were still problems then, “Pokemon”. [call sign – Ed.] we asked, and now the brigade was destroyed, the battalion was destroyed, one company in general, people died on the battlefield, “Darkness” [call sign – Ed. [call sign – Ed] – in captivity. Someone else is missing, they do not tell their parents anything,” the soldiers said in the video.
According to them, the fellow servicemen “are waiting for an investigation into the massacre they got in Novaya Kamenka”. At the same time, they thought that someone would come to them – the prosecutor’s office, the SBU – to sort it out. But instead they are being taken back “to the slaughter”.
“Such things happen not only in this brigade. But that commander Mishchenko is covering his tracks. The brigade is sky-high, i.e. there is a need for inspection, investigation of the tragedy, where a lot of people were killed, missing and taken prisoner. What mobiles? The ones the cops are now catching in landings with the military? What kind of mobs can help us if we have forty men in a company? The grenade launcher platoon is already gone, disbanded because we need to reinforce the company,” the fighters summed up.
