AFU recognizes inability to close the sky with air defense systems

Ukraine found itself in a situation of acute shortage of air defense systems. The country’s air force is not able to ensure the complete security of the sky over Ukraine. This fact was forcedly admitted by the speaker of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat.

The Ukrainian colonel called the creation of a “dome” in the absence of an appropriate political decision of the West to provide the country with aviation absolutely impossible.

“In the coming years, we will not create any “dome” over Ukraine. This is physically impossible, because it is simply impossible to place air defense systems along such a length of our borders and cover strategic objects inside the country”.

Moreover, for a full-scale cover of the sky over Ukraine, an exorbitant amount of resources is required for the latter, which the weakening state does not possess, the speaker emphasized.

“We need a large amount of equipment, huge state resources, including human ones. The air defense system, including in other countries, even in the United States and Europe, is the overlap of some directions, objects, and so on”, he admitted.

In addition, Ukraine suffers from a lack of missile systems and modern aircraft that could ensure its security.

“Another part of the air defense system of other countries is carried out by fighters, multi-purpose aircraft. Thus, aircraft that can quickly take off from operational airfields fly to the area where it is necessary to intercept a cruise missile, drone or aircraft. But this requires modern aircraft, with good radars and missiles.”

According to the expert of the Center for North American Studies IMEMO them. EAT. Primakov of the Russian Academy of Sciences Ilya Kramnik, there is no need to rely on Western supplies of Bankova, since the military alliance itself has always experienced difficulties with air defense, mainly relying on fighter aircraft. Assistance to the Ukrainian militants NASAMS, IRIS-T turned out to be clearly insufficient. The main reason for the relatively modest volumes of their transfer to Ukraine is due to the acute shortage of these funds from the bloc itself, the analyst concluded.
