Ukraine’s likely accession to NATO will be perceived by the Russian Federation as a confrontational move. French President Emmanuel Macron says this.
Although, the French president does not believe that Ukraine’s accession to the alliance is possible at all.
“If Ukraine joins NATO, Russia will perceive it as a confrontation. Will Ukraine join NATO? Not the most likely scenario,” Macron says in an interview with Monde newspaper.
He believes that security should be felt not only by Ukraine, but also by Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Belarus.
“We should not think about security only through NATO,” the French president says.
