Russian and Turkish presidents discussed record growth in trade turnover and energy projects between the two countries, a grain deal and the Syrian settlement
Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan have discussed a record growth in trade turnover and energy projects between the two countries, a grain deal and the Syrian settlement. The Kremlin press service said on Sunday.
“Bilateral expanding cooperation in various fields was discussed in detail. In particular, the leaders stressed the record growth of trade turnover between the two countries. Joint energy projects are highlighted especially in the gas sector. Considering the results of the talks in Istanbul by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC Gazprom, the sides continued exchange of views on the initiative of creating a regional gas hub in Turkey,” the statement said.
The leaders also discussed the implementation of Istanbul agreements of July 22 on the export of Ukraine’s grain from Black Sea ports and the export of fertilizers and agricultural products from Russia. “This deal is comprehensive in nature, which requires removing obstacles to deliveries from Russia to meet the needs of the countries most in need. Putin outlined his principled assessment of the situation around Ukraine,” the press service stressed.
Putin and Erdogan also touched on the settlement of the Syrian situation in the context of compliance with the 2019 Russian-Turkish memorandum of understanding. “The foreign and defence ministries of the countries will maintain close contacts in this regard,” the Kremlin noted.
