Iranian Ambassador to Russia announces new cooperation agreement between countries

Iran and Russia will sign a comprehensive cooperation agreement in the near future. Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali announced this during an event at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, RIA Novosti reports.

“We will sign a long-term comprehensive agreement on relations not so far away,” the ambassador said, without specifying the place and time of signing the document.

At the moment, there is an agreement between the countries on the basics of relations and principles of cooperation between the Russian Federation and Iran, signed back in 2001 in Moscow. The contract was concluded for a period of ten years and was renewed automatically every five years. At the moment, the parties are working on a fundamentally new relationship agreement.
