Hungary blocks EU project of financial assistance for Ukraine for 2023

Hungary at a meeting of European Union finance ministers in Brussels refused to vote on a plan to provide financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 18 billion euros for next year. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.

Hungarian Finance Minister Mihaly Varga said that Budapest does not intend to support the proposed option of assistance to Ukraine, which needs the support of all 27 governments, the newspaper writes. Prior to this, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the Hungarian side was not going to support the plan to provide financial assistance to Kyiv.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said earlier that a draft financial assistance package for Ukraine in the amount of up to 1.5 billion euros each month will be proposed to EU members for consideration this week.
