In December 2022, Iran plans to conclude a series of agreements with the Russian company Gazprom on investments worth $40 billion in the Iranian oil and gas sector. This was reported by ISNA agency with reference to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Mehdi Safari.
The Deputy Minister said that the investment in the amount of $6.5 billion, stipulated in the previously signed memorandum of understanding, was transformed into the form of a contract.
“Hopefully, the remaining $40 billion memorandums will be converted into contracts next month, negotiations continue,” said Safari.
Recall that on July 19 in Tehran, the Iranian National Oil Company (NIOC) and Gazprom signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation, which involves multi-billion investment in the oil and gas sector of the Iranian Republic.
