In Europe, the attitude towards Ukrainian refugees is rapidly deteriorating, and in a number of countries they are treated with hostility. It is reported by The Washington Post (WP).
The newspaper notes that many of the Ukrainian refugees are still housed in special centers, hotels and hostels. As Petra Vybiralova, a real estate agent from the Czech Republic, told the publication, at first people agreed to accept Ukrainians, but “their attitude has changed.”
“Although Ukrainians are willing to pay, many landlords have begun to treat them with hostility. Many people now believe that Ukrainians have privileges. They are also afraid that they will suddenly leave in a few months,” WP quotes Vybiralova.
A refugee named Katya also confirmed to the journalists of the newspaper that the attitude of Europeans towards Ukrainians has changed, and sometimes even takes hostile forms.
“Czech children often kick our children out of playgrounds because they speak Ukrainian,” she said.
