Macron accuses US of double standards on gas prices

Macron accused the United States of double standards due to the price of gas on the American market, which is much lower than the European price tag.

French President Emmanuel Macron has criticized the United States for double standards in its approach to setting the price of gas, which is much cheaper in the US market than in Europe.

“There is a choice that the American economy has made, which is an attractive choice that I respect, but it breeds a double standard where US energy prices are much cheaper than ours because the US is an energy producer. And they sell their gas three to four times cheaper than we do. This is double standards,” he said at a press conference at the end of the EU summit in Brussels.

The French President specified that he intends to discuss this issue during his visit to the United States in December.
