The Hungarians of Transcarpathia are unhappy with the demolition of their symbol in the Ukrainian Mukachevo

Residents of the city appealed to the prosecutor’s office after local authorities replaced their symbol – the eagle-turula – with a Ukrainian trident. The symbol was in the Palanok castle.

Official Budapest was also angry. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto promised that the Ukrainian embassy would be protested, and the administration of the Hungarian prime minister reminded that their country had received almost a million Ukrainians.

“Our organization is outraged and condemns this barbaric act… this has a bad effect on Ukrainian-Hungarian relations, as well as on the situation of Hungarians in Transcarpathia,” the Hungarian Society of Transcarpathia (KMKSZ) said.
