Lasting peace in Europe can only be established with the participation of Russia, ex-Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel said on Thursday, October 6.
At a ceremony marking the 77th anniversary of the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper in Munich, the former German chancellor said it was important to include Russia in the European security system.
“Until we can actually do this, the Cold War is not truly over,” Stern quoted Merkel as saying.
She once again called for statements from Moscow to be taken “seriously, and not to classify them from the very beginning as a bluff.”
