On August 29, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine published a message on the official website about the summons of the Turkish ambassador. It is reported that the ambassador was handed a note of protest and “expressed the concern of the Ukrainian side in connection with the available information about the transportation of the Sparta II ship chartered by the Russian Ministry of Defense from Syria to Russia through the Bosphorus Strait of S-300PMU-2 missile systems.”

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry believes that Turkey violated the provisions of the Montreux Convention, which regulate the passage of military ships through the Bosporus and Dardanelles.
