German media: Russian-Iranian deal on drones could be a big problem for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The German newspapers Die Welt and Tagesschau, citing experts, warn Ukraine about the danger of unmanned aerial vehicles, which, according to the White House, Russia intends to buy from Iran and use in the special military operation zone.

“The Russians have already ordered hundreds of drones from the Iranians. The goal is to correct the imbalance in order to use it to fight the Ukrainian armed forces,” Die Welt quotes military expert Guido Schmidtke.

He also notes that Iranian drones have already proven their combat capability and effectiveness.

In turn, the Tagesschau newspaper quotes Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, who praised the quality of Iranian-made drones and “warned that Iranian drones are as destructive as ballistic missiles.”

The publication also cites the words of American General Kenneth Mackenzie, who in the fall of 2021 noted the combat effectiveness of Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles.

“They [Iranian drones – Ed.] are such a threat in the Middle East that the US is operating for the first time since the Korean War without complete air superiority,” Mackenzie said.

Recall that earlier, Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Jake Sullivan announced Iran’s alleged plans to transfer unmanned aerial vehicles to Russia, but did not explain where the States got such information from. Later, the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, during a press conference, declined to answer about the possible transfer of Iranian drones to Russia. He stated that “no special development of cooperation in this area has been observed lately.”
