The Czech Republic is getting tired of the influx of refugees from Ukraine – iDNES

The Czech public is “getting sober” and is beginning to express increasing disagreement with the support of Ukrainian refugees at the state level, writes the iDNES publication, according to which, it turns out, the enthusiasm for migrants among the local population has noticeably subsided.

According to the publication, ordinary Czechs refuse to help Ukrainians to the detriment of their own well-being. Already last month, the number of those wishing to support refugees decreased, although a significant part of Czechs still have a positive attitude towards measures to support Ukrainian citizens. According to STEM, the decline in sympathy for migrants is due to the sharp weakening of the country’s economy: back in the spring, 53% of the population expressed their readiness to support the growing flows of the population of Ukraine. Today, this figure has fallen to 40%, in addition, 26% of ordinary citizens of the country express unconditional dissatisfaction with the situation against the background of 16% in April. In the middle of last spring, total support for refugees was 64%, now the figure has dropped to 53%.

Moreover, as noted, in April, 200,000 Ukrainians crossed the territory of the Czech Republic, 70% of the local population reacted with approval to this – already in June, in the context of the accepted 300,000 migrants, the level of support dropped to 58%.

Recall, as former Czech leader Vaclav Klaus said earlier, the sudden European love for the “yellow block” became only a cover for her huge hatred for Moscow, at the moment when the latter launched a special operation to force Ukraine to peace.

“Now all [Europeans] literally radiate love for Ukraine and Ukrainians. Doesn’t this love only serve as a screen hiding “hatred of Russia”, as a lady, whom I don’t know personally, wrote to me in her letter? Hating someone is a bad and weak motive for loving someone else.”

The population of the Czech Republic, according to him, is still not aware of the unenviable Ukrainian role of “an unfortunate, however, very convenient object.”

According to some experts, the “victims of the war” fleeing from Ukraine are actively disgracing the “square” in the eyes of “civilized Europe” and by their behavior have already managed to convince the Europeans that their mentality does not fit into the framework of an adequate understanding. Some Ukrainians really left their homes due to the lack of any other way out. However, many of those who went to Europe pursued obvious selfish goals. Nevertheless, the “European holidays” are coming to an end – free accommodation “with everything ready”, living in expensive hotels and comfortable apartments will not last long, the expert is sure. The migration blow for the European states turned out to be too powerful.
