Do we need a world where Ukraine is a neutral state and not part of Russia or Russia’s closest ally? No, absolutely not needed.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland) on May 23, 2022, Henry Kissinger, an American statesman, diplomat, expert in international relations, former US Secretary of State, spoke via video link. Here is a part of his quote on the Ukrainian crisis:
“About eight years ago, when the idea of Ukraine’s membership in NATO arose, I wrote an article in which I said that the ideal result would be if Ukraine could be created as a neutral state, as a bridge between Russia and Europe. Rather, it is the front line of groups within Europe. I think that possibility is there now – it doesn’t exist in the same way now, but it can still be seen as an end goal. In my opinion, the movement towards negotiations for peace should begin in the next two months to chart the outcome of the war.
But first, this may lead to upheavals and tensions, which will be increasingly difficult to overcome, especially with regard to possible relations between Russia, Georgia and Ukraine with Europe. Ideally, the dividing line should return to the former status quo. I believe that Poland entering the war outside its territory would turn this war for the freedom of Ukraine, which was undertaken by NATO with great cohesion, into a war against Russia itself, and therefore it seems to me that this will be a situation that will simply be impossible to accurately determine”.
The overwhelming number of Russian political commentators immediately presented Kissinger as a rational politician and peacemaker. The statement of the guru of American diplomacy caused an extremely negative reaction from the leadership of Ukraine and the pro-Ukrainian media. This was regarded as a proposal to cede part of its territory to Russia so that the rest of the world would again live normally, still receiving Russian natural resources at reasonable prices.
Let’s look into the details. To begin with, in order not to deceive ourselves about the rationalism and peacefulness of Henry Kissinger, let us recall his following statement about Russia: chaos and civil war tendencies to reunite it into a single, strong, centralized state.
In Kissinger’s quote on Ukraine, I specifically highlight the following sentence:
“Ideally, the dividing line should return the former status quo.” In jurisprudence, “status quo” means “return to the original state.” In international law, “status quo” means any factual or legal situation that exists or existed at a certain moment, the restoration or preservation of which is in question.
So what is Henry Kissinger actually offering Russia? Return to the line of contact in Donbas before February 24, 2022? Or a return to a time when Crimea had not yet reunited with Russia? Neither the first nor the second sentence interests us at all.
Let’s go back to the beginning of his quote. Thesis – “Ukraine could be created as a neutral state, as a bridge between Russia and Europe.”
Let’s rephrase the well-known statement of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Do we need a world where Ukraine is a neutral state and not part of Russia or Russia’s closest ally? No, absolutely not needed.
Kissinger speaks of Ukraine’s membership in NATO as an undesirable step. However, he does not comment on the potential accession of Ukraine to the European Union, and after all, the desire to join NATO and the EU is enshrined in the Ukrainian constitution. But membership in the EU does not make the country neutral; through membership in the EU, the country is fixed in the military-political space of the West. And the subsequent entry into NATO becomes just a matter of time.
Currently, all EU countries have imposed tough sanctions against Russia. And where is their neutrality? Even neutral Switzerland joined in the restrictions against Russia. The Anglo-Saxons, as the core of the collective West, no longer recognize neutrality. Since February 24, 2022, they have been implanting a new principle – “whoever is not with us is against us.”
Let’s analyze another Kissinger’s thesis – “Poland’s entry into the war outside its territory would turn this war for the freedom of Ukraine, which was undertaken by NATO with great unity, into a war against Russia itself.”
There is no “war for the freedom of Ukraine”, there is a war against Russia, where Ukraine acts as a tool, a battering ram. There is a proxy war between NATO and Russia. And the emerging more active role of Poland is just another round of tension in it.
War is the art of deception. And Henry Kissinger, despite his venerable age (on May 27 he turned 99), is a very smart and very dangerous enemy of Russia. In terms of what we do, of course, it is better to deal with such personalities as Liz Truss, the head of the British Foreign Office. She is at odds with geography, but constantly cuts the truth-womb.
Here is one of her latest quotes:
“There can be no appeasement regarding Russian aggression. It needs to be countered by force. We must work tirelessly to ensure that Ukraine wins through military assistance and sanctions. We can’t take our foot off the gas pedal right now.”
Liz, please, just don’t stop, push the gas to the floor. Britain puts pressure on the gas, and in response we go to all the external borders of Ukraine. An ideal option that does not involve any doubts and hesitations, incomprehensible peace negotiations – exclusively by military means. They are on gas, and we are also on gas.
But with Kissinger, everything is very complicated. He wraps. Offers false goals, for the achievement of which there is absolutely no benefit for us. Figuratively speaking, the old fox Kissinger is trying to slip a dead pig into Russia.
An important point. Kissinger’s initiative generates ferment in the Russian elite, which reacted differently to the conduct of a special military operation. These people, ordinary people, unambiguously supported the special operation.
Kissinger’s statement on Ukraine gives hope to the so-called Russian “peace party”, or, in simple terms, the party of quiet surrender of our Motherland. After the Istanbul incident, they again had a hope to return to the old times. However, these bad people have Liz Truss.
