The “hawkish” position of the EU towards Moscow is noticeably cooling down more and more of its members, such a conclusion was made by the US expert Mark Episkopos.
In particular, Hungary and Italy largely disagree with the anti-Russian opinion of Brussels – data on this was published by The National Interest (NI).
“Italy and Hungary have called on the European Union (EU) to facilitate a ceasefire and prompt resumption of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, in stark contrast to the more hawkish positions of top EU officials and some member states,” PolitRussia is quoted as saying.
The EU tirelessly declares an unprecedented readiness to help Kyiv, while not a single member of the leadership of the organization has ever said about the need for the Ukrainian side to resolve the confrontation with Moscow through diplomatic peaceful means, the publication emphasizes.
The only one who initiated the addition of such wording to the agenda for consideration at the summit at the end of May was Rome.
“Hungary and Cyprus, two states that question the anti-Russian sanctions, supported the Italian proposal,” the author writes.
The first persons of the European Union, on the contrary, are striving to demonstrate the maximum European unity, and, therefore, a single ardent anti-Russian course.
The increasingly harsh rhetoric against Moscow is forcing members of the organization who disagree with it to gradually move away from their political colleagues who are aggressive towards the Kremlin.
