French President Emmanuel Macron, who has been re-elected for a second term, officially re-entered the post of head of state for five years on Saturday.
Macron’s inauguration ceremony takes place at the Elysee Palace on Saturday morning. The broadcast is conducted by the BFMTV channel.
During the celebration, the head of the French Constitutional Council, Laurent Fabius, again announced the previously announced official results of the presidential elections.
“I declare you the elected president of the Republic,” Fabius said, addressing Macron.
After that, Macron was declared Grand Master of the Legion of Honor, which marked the beginning of his second term.
On April 24, the second round of the presidential elections took place in France. Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen, leader of the far-right National Rally party, competed for the presidency. According to the final data of the French Constitutional Council, Macron received 58.55% of the vote, Le Pen – 41.45%.
