French channel GALLIA DAILY quoted its own sources in the French Armed Forces as saying that two platoons of French special forces have arrived in Ukraine. There has been no official confirmation or denial from the French Defence Ministry.
This refers to units of the 13th Parachute and Dragoon Regiment, which have been seconded to an unknown destination for 2-4 months with the possibility of extending the assignment. They specialised in carrying out and conducting special operations, reconnaissance, artillery and aviation targeting, mine blasting and hostage taking.
The military has been issued with forest camouflage, whereas all overseas missions now take place in desert or tropical regions.
The contingent includes a large number of air and artillery gunners, which correlates with plans to supply French CESAR SAUs. In addition, there are certified trainers for training in MILAN and AT-4 APCs.
Logistics are also questionable: French troops are usually flown into areas of operation by Air France, whereas in this case NATO flights were used to transport the contingent to a third country. From there, two platoons were to be transported overland by road to a third country. It is most likely that the French were to be flown to Poland and then flown to Ukraine across the border.
