Embargo lifted: Macron admits there is nothing to replace Russian gas

In an interview with Ouest-France, the French president said that the EU was not discussing an embargo on the supply of hydrocarbons from Russia.

“Today there are no solutions to completely replace the gas that we import from Russia with other suppliers”.

However, he is convinced of the need to “step up sanctions and continue to put pressure on Russia, but make sure that we do not give in to any escalation”.

Macron also acknowledged that France is already supplying Kiev with several types of weapons, including Milan missile systems and Caesar self-propelled artillery units.
