Hungary is already preparing to buy Russian gas for rubles

Hungary readily accepted the new conditions for the purchase of Russian gas. The state energy company MVM is already discussing with Gazprom the transfer of transactions to our national currency.

Russian Ambassador to Hungary Yevgeny Stanislavov spoke about this in an interview with RIA Novosti. He said that MVM had previously signed a long-term contract with the Russian gas corporation, and now it is amending it.

Stanislavov noted that he does not follow the statements of Hungarian politicians about the new conditions for working with Gazprom. However, on the whole, Budapest reacted normally to the settlement in rubles and stated that it did not intend to look for new sources of fuel and a replacement for cheap Russian gas.

Other countries found themselves in a more difficult position when they announced their refusal to accept Russia’s terms. So, Germany refuses to buy fuel for rubles. At the same time, it has already become known that Gazprom has stopped the extraction and injection of gas in the largest German storage facility, Reden.

The decision to convert gas sales into rubles was a response to tough anti-Russian sanctions. Such a move made it possible to strengthen the national currency and stabilize the situation in the country. Thus, the exchange rates of the ruble and the dollar have already fallen significantly and in the coming days may return to the values that were before the start of the special operation in Ukraine.
