Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Budapest does not intend to impose sanctions restrictions against Russia in the oil and gas sector, Reuters reports.
“We have resolved the most important issue in our favor: there will be no sanctions related to the oil and gas sector, that is, Hungary’s energy supply will be ensured in the coming period,” Orban stressed.
Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that Russian energy resources play a significant role in Eastern Europe and it will take many years to replace them. According to him, it is for this reason that Budapest will not make decisions that will harm the inhabitants of the country.
As News Front previously reported, US President Joe Biden signed an executive order banning energy imports from Russia and new investment in the Russian energy sector.
