Trump admits Putin’s decision “genius”, says Russian army is the strongest peacekeeping force

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has admitted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s strategic vision and praised his moves in Ukraine concerning the decision to recognize sovereignity of the Donbass republics. Trump called Putin “savvy,” appreciating his political thinking.

“I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion <…> of Ukraine, Putin declares it as independent,” Trump said in an interview Tuesday on the conservative Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show.

“So, Putin is now saying, ‘It’s independent,’ a large section of Ukraine. I said, ‘How smart is that?’ And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s [the] strongest peace force,” Trump said, adding that that was the kind of show of force the United States could use on its southern border.

Recall that regularly praised and sought close ties with Putin during his time in office.

Alsp, the former president wants the public to know Vladimir Putin didn’t invade Ukraine during his term — unlike the current U.S. president.
