German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in an interview with the ZDF television channel that he intends to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future.
“I will soon talk [with Putin] in Moscow on the topics that need to be discussed. The meeting is scheduled and will take place in the near future,” Scholz said.
The German Chancellor stressed that he is currently actively cooperating with allies and partners in the European Union on the issue of Ukraine. Earlier it became known that on February 7, Scholz will meet with US President Joe Biden in Washington. The parties plan to discuss “a common commitment to diplomacy and joint efforts to deter further Russian aggression against Ukraine.”
Recently, foreign media have been massively replicating information that Moscow is allegedly preparing an “attack” on Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly denied such accusations. The Kremlin spokesman stressed that the Russian Federation moves troops exclusively on its territory and does not threaten anyone.
