Macron explained why he has not yet declared his candidacy for a second term as president

French President Emmanuel Macron has made no secret of his desire to run for a second term, but will announce his candidacy when the epidemiological situation allows it

He said this in an interview with Le Parisien newspaper published on Wednesday.

“It is now up to me to take action against the pandemic. But I will not hide the fact that I want to”, –  Macron said.

He also noted that he needed to first clarify things for himself in relation to the political equation.

On Tuesday, the country reported another record of nearly 272,000 people diagnosed with COVID-19 in a 24-hour period.
Elections in France will be held in two phases: 10 and 24 April. The timetable for the campaign allows contenders to stand for election until the beginning of March
